About Wise
WISE was born in the back of a pick up truck on Wolfe Island during Covid. Two friends with backgrounds in education lamented the screentime epidemic, a new landscape where children were not encouraged to DO things, and the often lonely existence of our seniors whose rich knowledge was being wasted. In the spirit of DOING, WISE was born.
By connecting generations, WISE fights ageism and social isolation. Our skill building workshops create competence and confidence. We value CONNECTION, AUTHENTICITY and EMPOWERMENT.
In a world of online learning, we offer real get-your-hands-dirty workshops run by real people, with tried and tested experience in their field. We’re about the whole community thriving, not just surviving. Come learn WITH us!
Our workshops are organized and run by Carone Beaucage, B.S.W. (TMU), Certified Waldorf teacher, and former camp director. Carone also has a wealth of experience working with seniors, having grown up in a family-run nursing home. She is a proud member of Sagamok Anishnabek First Nation.
Most of our workshops take place on Wolfe Island. If you have a workshop idea, or want us to come to your community, let’s talk!

We run workshops and intensives for all ages: Cooking and baking, Gardening and harvesting, Car and bike maintenance, Canning/preserving, Householding, Basic home repair and carpentry, Handwork (knitting, sewing, embroidery), Homecare of the sick and elderly, Life skills for teens soon to be leaving home.
